With her throaty vocals, acoustic guitar, and harmonica, Cummings conjures the sound of the early-&#8217;60s folk revival, singing with great command her poetic musings to a minimalist accompaniment that alternates between fevered strumming and delicate fingerpicking. She&#8217;d barely begun gigging locally when a Facebook video of her singing Bob Dylan&#8217;s &#8220;It&#8217;s All Over Now, Baby Blue,&#8221; caught the attention of Flightless Records, the label run by Melbourne psych favourites King Gizzard &amp; the Lizard Wizard. By the beginning of 2019, Cummings was opening regional shows for J Mascis and Do Re Mi and working on her first album. Released later that November, Refuge Cove bore a vintage analog tone and presented Cummings&#8217; earthy folk songs in a spacious, all-acoustic setting.

Her breakthrough album Pretty Faces twirls gently in its own form of psych-folk revival. The Melbourne-based artist creates fragile but effortlessly nimble melodies with soaring vocals that call from another time and place.
Senior’s captivating live performances have seen her supporting international artists including Calexico, Jeff Tweedy, Jessica Pratt, and Bedouine, to name a few. When performing, Senior is joined by her sister Andi and guitarist/pianist Jesse Williams creating a tapestry of ethereal harmonies and jangly 60s guitar tones. Her more recent material is performed with a full band and has a lightness reminiscent of Paul McCartney.
Leah Senior has performed extensively throughout Australia and Europe, playing at major festivals including Golden Plains, Queenscliff Music Festival, OOAM (Switzerland) and more. Early 2019 saw Leah Senior embark on her first headline international tour in support of her most recent single &#8220;Graves.&#8221; She played to full rooms in Spain, Switzerland, Germany, France and the UK.

hat began as three former garage band mates Zak Olsen, Daff Gravolin and Jamie Harmer (The Frowning Clouds) experimenting with a heavier sound,  quickly evolved into a project that has been expanding exponentially ever since.
From the great enveloping cosmic dark, ORB realised their maiden long player ‘Birth’. A bio-engineered, proto-metal payload of dystopian sci-fi. Electrodes attached by starlight to a petri-dish, allows pathogens to infect pickups and synthesizers to awaken synapses on ORB’s sophomore project; Naturality (2016).
Riding the inertia of Naturality, ORB successfully navigated a massive run of international shows, including huge tours of Europe and a US tour with King Gizzard, including an impressive 11 shows in 5 days at Austin’s South by Southwest.
Beautiful echoes of the past/warnings of a dark future permeate ORB’s fourth and most recent release ‘Space Between the Planets’ (2018). Fans of their previous releases feel an immediate pay-off with waves of wah and fuzz drenching globular bass lines and the punchiest of rhythms, poignantly struck. ‘Space Between’ sees the ORB sound diversify, a new face/a new phase of their alchemical sonic signal.

For over a decade, the four Findlay sisters have seemingly existed within their own stellar nebula; unaffected by fleeting modern musical trends, their sound is a homage to the prog, metal and psych powerhouses of the 70s whilst remaining completely their own. 
From practicing in their family shed as teenagers, to touring the world with Fleetwood Mac, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, King Tuff, and King Gizzard, it’s been a strange trip for the four Findlay sisters. As Stonefield, they’ve got three albums and thousands of miles under their belts, plus plenty of perspective on what it’s like to fight to make a place for themselves, and tell their own story.
“Our new record is about our own experiences and stories,” explains Amy, “Songs about the fear of walking home alone at night, stories of what it’s like being an all-female band and the power of supporting one another.&#8221; With that being the lyrical subject, the music that came out is definitely our heaviest.” 
By taking control of the narrative, and pumping it up with stack-blowing, guitar hero riffs and razor-edged vocals, it becomes an album of power, control, and confidence&#8211;projected in the face of a world that too often forces the opposite.

Kind Hearts featuring Spike Fuck

The band persistently defy classification, with a colourful catalogue of releases that span from country to folk, grunge rock to ballad, Australiana to Americana, acoustic and spoken word to electronica. The Slingers signed to Flightless Records in 2020, releasing a double A-Side 7-inch vinyl, The Cruellest Cut and Kind Hearts (a collaboration with legend of the Melbourne underground, Spike Fuck). In 2021, the band were included in Beat Magazine’s 20 Underground Melbourne Bands You Ought to Know.
Recent releases have seen the band make a foray into ‘Motel Pop’. The genre is less defined by production than by its lyrical content, chronicling with a blend of comedy and tragedy the lives of ordinary people living and struggling through our current age of loneliness. The evolution of ‘Motel Pop’ will culminate in the 2023 release of the band’s debut, full-length LP, Sentimentalism (Flightless Records). Produced by Errol Green (Big Yawn), the album ranges from piano ballads to purely electronic pieces. The live launch of Sentimentalism at the famed Corner Hotel sold out weeks in advance.
More than anything, The Slingers are motivated by love, for each other and for the sublime power of music. Closely following love are the motivators of greed and vengeance.
