Fresh from the bubbling surf scene of Geelong, Australia - Baked Beans spill a saucy serve of organ driven garage psych. Fronted by The Murlocs drummer Matt Blach - His vocal howl is delivered over driving hammond and guitars, with a lockstep machine backline, that’ll burn the roof of your mouth. Flashes of western paddock-basher boogies that melt and make way for sonic salves of a simpler time and place: a groove, leisurely and lackadaisical.
Following the initial sold out release of their debut album ‘Babble' through Flightless Records late last year, Beans capped off 2018 with a packed east coast tour, an iconic support of international shapeshifters King Gizzard alongside huge festival appearances at the coveted psych odyssey; Gizzfest, New Year’s Evie and Lock Hart festivals.
Murmurs and stories from ‘The Farm’ have become common around Flightless as several bands have members live, jam and record in the old rebuilt apple orchard in the country outside Melbourne. It was the Beans that converted The Farm’s old hardwood storage barn, into an expansive jam space and began writing and recording together in Flightless’ very own Big Pink. Out on the farm the Baked Beans have laid the rhythms and foundations for their sophomore record, which has since been recorded by Billy Gardner (Living Eyes) and mixed by Stu Mackenzie (King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard). The first taste; the wheel spinning ‘Avalon Speedway’ is out in the world with the new record following close behind in 2020!
